State Fair

We have had the best little "staycation" this week. Cag took a week off of work and we took it day by day. It was so nice to be able to sleep until we woke up and do whatever we felt like doing that day. We got some things crossed off of our to do list and we had a few fun outings. Last night we took advantage of the State Fair. The kids had an absolute blast. There is something about the rides, music, and fried food...

I hope everyone is having an amazing fall so far.

Clean Banana Bread

We have several things going on around these parts here lately. We have both boys signed up for spring baseball (which will begin sooner than I am ready), I am in a redecorating mood, and I am on a kick to get more produce in this house and less "shelf food". That being said: I made some pretty awesome "CLEAN" banana bread a few days ago. I got the recipe here (gotta give credit where credit is due)!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar free applesauce
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 mashed overripe bananas

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, mix together applesauce and honey. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

Bits & Pieces

I have news: We are all better and well again! WOOHOO! My sweet girl had the hardest time getting over this mess and actually developed a double ear infection. But we are on antibiotics now and she is feeling like her happy little self again!

Timmy has been extra mischavious lately. He turned our milk green a few nights ago!

A fews other guys around the house have been a little tired of his antics.

We tried some new food. I am ashamed to say that I have never had an avacado. We bought some and Paisley and I had some for lunch one day. Add this to the list of foods she loves. She ate about 75% of it and that's pretty good for my little busy body these days.

My sweet little bright eyes!

Some books on my night stand...

We ordered this book from Amazon. We obviously wish we had more land and room for our garden and some chickens and other animals. The kids love it too. The pictures are so happy.

 Chicken coop ideas!

I ordered this from eBay for the kids and they love it. Cost me a whole dollar. I am in love with these Little Golden books, they are so sweet. The illustations are so vibrant. They were happy to add it to their Christmas book basket.

Maybe after this weekend I will actually have something to blog about. It just hasn't been very exciting being trapped in the house amongst the sickness!

New Food & Nails

I did a resolution post and in it I talked about how we wanted to start eating a lot healthier. We have been doing just that. So far so good. I do crave things though... mainly chocolate. But enough about that, here are some of the yummy things we have had for dinner:

We had an awesome grilled chicken salad. SO yummy.

These fajitas were flat out amazing. I may make them again next week they were so good. I will have to do a recipe post on them. I want to share the love!

We aren't the only ones trying new foods around here. Miss Priss had some green beans for lunch the other day. Doctor cleared her to start some solids. I am making her baby food myself. I just want to know exactly what is going in it. I love doing it too. There is something about knowing that you are giving your baby all natural food and that it is great for her. I think I just want her to have better eating habits than I do. Or even better than the boys. They try to eat awful and I try my best to get them to eat better, although they have been loving these healthier dinners more than us I think!

Here she is when she had her carrots for the first time. I think today we may try the batch of sweet potatoes I made her.

I am also linking up to a Nail Party today!

I did my own toes for Christmas (mostly due to Christmas budgeting). I found this on pinterest and thought it was festive and adorable. First paint your nails white. Completely white. Then cut very thin strips of blue painters tape and once the white is completely dry, put them across your nails in a candy cane like pattern. Then paint the red over your nails. Once the paint is GOOD AND DRY, you remove the painters tape and VOILA! Be sure to add a clear top coat. Simple and cute. Anyone can do this. Especially since I did it with a baby in my lap half way through (and I am horrible at doing my own nails).

I couldn't resist posting these cute little toes. We had our first nail painting session a few days ago and it was so hard with her being a wiggle worm but so worth it. Just look how precious!
